The CWU Friends of the Library (FOL), established in 1961, helps to ensure that the James E. Brooks Library remains a vital part of Central Washington University.

The primary purpose of the Friends is to raise funds for library acquisitions: books, journals, recordings, musical scores, films, maps, electronic databases.

Each fall, we conduct a three-day booksale on the Ellensburg campus. The Friends of the Brooks Library Endowment Fund receives the monies raised by the sale and other events.

Our newsletters and meeting minutes keep you informed of the Friends’ activities. Let us know if you would be interested in joining us!

THE fall
Book Sale

Each Fall quarter, the Friends conduct a two- or three-day book sale on the Ellensburg campus. This is our major event each year. The Friends of the Brooks Library Program Support Fund receives the monies raised by the sale and other events.

Benches

In Fall 2016 the Brooks family and the Friends of the Library collaborated to design and donate two benches to the Brooks Library. The benches were created by CWU alum Jerry Bement of J. Dub’s Metalworks. They feature the CWU logo and silhouettes of people reading.

programs & sponsorships

The Friends sponsor many events that welcome campus and community members into the library. We supply copies of books to give away at the Lion Rock Visiting Writers Series events. We have also allocated funding for a new faculty lecture series to be held quarterly in 2020-2021.
